(1.) downright: (especially of something bad) extremely or very great
ex: I think the way she was treated is a downright disgrace.
(2.) turn out: to happen in a particular way or to have a particular result, especially an unexpected one
ex:As events turned out, we were right to have decided to leave early.
(3.) drop out: to not do something that you were going to do, or to stop doing something before you have completely finished
ex: He dropped out of the race after two laps.
(4.) persistence:the fact that someone or something persists
ex:Her persistence and enthusiasm have helped the group to achieve its international success.
(5.) tenement: a large building divided into apartments, usually in a poor area of a city
ex: Barred by landlords from the mainstream urban rental market, they lived in wretched tenements.
(6.) midst: the middle of a group of people or things
ex:I'm sorry but I'm too busy - I'm in the midst of writing a report.
